Chicago, July 3, 2008 -- Healthy Schools Campaign is pleased
to announce two exciting opportunities to promote and support green cleaning in
schools around the nation:
- The second annual Green Cleaning in
Schools Award for schools and universities that show dedication and innovation
in green cleaning methods and practices.
- A series of series of green cleaning webinars to
help participants develop green cleaning knowledge and learn best practices.
For the second year in a row, American School &
University magazine presents the Green Cleaning Award, created in conjunction
with HSC and the Green Cleaning Network, to honor schools and their partners
that embrace green principles and practices in their maintenance operations.
Judges from HSC and the Green Cleaning Network will evaluate
proposals from educational institutions around the country. Winning schools,
which must demonstrate exceptional dedication to green cleaning, will be
featured in an upcoming special supplement of American School & University
magazine.
The judging criteria for the award are based on HSC’s Quick
& Easy Guide to Green Cleaning in Schools.

American School & University, the Green Clean Network,
and Healthy Schools Campaign will co-sponsor a summer series of green cleaning
webinars to help schools develop their green cleaning knowledge and learn best
practices.
All webinars include expert insight and practical advice
from a highly-regarded panel of green cleaning leaders including Steve Ashkin
of the Ashkin Group LLC, Healthy Schools Campaign Deputy Director Mark Bishop,
and award-winning facilities managers from schools recognized in the first
annual Green Cleaning in Schools awards.
The webinars feature two topics - Green Cleaning: Beyond
Cleaning Chemicals and Green Cleaning and Infection Control to help
participants integrate green cleaning more fully into all aspects of facilities
maintenance.
