MLive. Com reports that Bissell Homecare Inc. has plans to launch a carpet cleaner rental business, a direct challenge to the industry-leading Rug Doctor.

Grand Rapids-based Bissell plans to roll out its Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine and accompanying products at 800 stores in September, including several hundred Lowe's stores.

One can only wonder, then, if certification is on the horizon? Time will tell.
