Developed with the help of elementary-level reading specialists, the hour- long scholastic presentations, the Carpet One Magic Carpet Time Tour combines creative storytelling with live, educational theater.
During performances, children will sit on their very own "magic" carpet, donated by Carpet One. These carpets serve as transport through different fables, fairytales and poems; encouraging children to use their imagination as Al, Genie and the Director bring popular children's stories to life through audience involvement and wild and wacky humor.
At the end of the show, the audience is granted an extra wish by Genie, who unexpectedly provides each student and teacher with a storybook and cassette single of "Magic Carpet Ride" by Disney singing artist Myra. In addition, local schools will keep donated carpet squares for future library and classroom use.
The tour has already visited more than 145 schools nationwide since its fall debut and will be stopping off at various cities including Miami, Dallas, Chicago, and New York; concluding their 600 plus scheduled appearances during the 2000-2001 school year.
