Steam Way hosts Annual Distributors Meeting
“Building Success One Step at a Time” was the theme for the annual Steam Way International Distributors Meeting recently held in Denver, CO. The three-day program attracted Steam Way distributors from all over North America and Australia.
Highlighting the weekend were awards for outstanding sales performance in 1999. Awardees were: Eddie Burgess of Steam West, The Innovation in Marketing Award; Dane Gregory with the Steam Way Appreciation Award; Advanced Specialized Equipment of Australia, International Distributor of the Year; Mac Hubbard of New England Steam Way, the Ralph S. Bloss Award; Tom Hill, The John Maucieri Excellence in Education Award; Sunbelt USA, first place in truckmount sales; Steam Way Superstore of Denver, first place in portable sales; Great Lakes Steamway, first place in chemical sales.
Distributor of the Year was awarded to Sunbelt USA.
Kel-San garners top Castex/Nobles award
Castex/Nobles recently honored the The Kel-San Co. of Knoxville, TN, with its
1999 Distributor of the Year Award. Kel-San met and exceeded the following award criteria: achievement of sales goals; participation in marketing programs; successful transition of Tennant products into territory; investment in constant training of new personnel; steadfast support of all new product initiatives; and average sales growth of 25% over the past three years.
IICRC releases S300 Upholstery Standard
The IICRC has released the first edition of its S300 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Upholstery Cleaning. Volunteer members from the upholstery and fiber manufacturing industry, as well as the cleaning and restoration industry, joined forces to form the S300 task force.
Included within the pages of the S300 are upholstery cleaning procedures and techniques, upholstery fiber construction and cleaning characteristics, and a glossary of industry terms.

Bridgepoint managers let loose in Denver
The Bridgepoint Systems Company Stores Division Management Team met recently for the annual managers meeting and team-building session in Denver. The three-day gathering served as a venue for honoring sales achievements, brainstorming sessions, and the exchange of ideas on managing employees, inventory, products and customers.
Among the awards handed out were Store of the Year, garnered by Jill Werth of Omaha, Nebraska; and the Rookie of the Year award to Bridgepoint Systems of North Phoenix, managed by Russ Gardiner.

St. Louis-area franchisee wins Chem-Dry award
Bill and Michelle Reynolds, franchisees of the Florissant-area Chem-Dry for nearly two years, have been awarded Chem-Dry’s Rising Star Award for being on a fast track to success, the company says. The couple received the honor during Chem-Dry’s Annual Convention held in Maui, Hawaii.

Steve Hanig has joined US Products as VP of Sales and Marketing. He is responsible for all sales and marketing functions, along with managing distribution channels, national accounts and manufacturer’s reps and agents.
Dave Maurer has been named Geerpres Inc.’s VP of Sales and Marketing. He brings several years of cleaning industry experience to his new post.

ASCR cleans up at 55th Annual Convention
The Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration, International (ASCR) recently presented its 55th Annual Convention and Exhibition, “Cleaning & Restoration 2000,” in Nashville. The comprehensive 4-day conference, which attracted more than 500 attendees, featured a keynote address by Sue Hershkowitz-Coore, CSP, who presented “Hyperservice: How to Increase Profits and Loyalty.”
Through its extensive educational opportunities, this year’s program was designed to guide professionals through the challenges and potential hazards in the cleaning and restoration industry, according to Armen “Buzz” Dohanian, Jr., CRS, President of ASCR.
Educational and informative seminars brought forth many of the cleaning and restoration industries leaders, including: Tom Hill, T. Hill & Associates; Doyle Bloss, Steam Way International; McGregor Pearce, Mold Sampling & Diagnostic Service; Howard Partridge, Phenomenal Marketing; Jessie Turpin, Complete Restoration Services, Inc.; and Marty King, CR, AM, ASCR International; Aaron Groseclose, MasterBlend; and many others.
The Silent Auction held by ASCR also attracted much interest from convention goers, as well as donors. Items ran the spectrum from one dozen golf balls to a week-long stay in a Brickenridge, CO condo.
