There are two prominent persons in the carpet cleaning world who are running for all of our lives―Tom Hill and Barry Costa. Kimberly Costa, Barry’s daughter, passed away due to cancer at the age of 19. She was active and involved with everything. Kimberly expressed her beliefs at her high school graduation ceremony that to have a full life you should touch as many lives as you can.
Having previously completed the Portland Marathon, Tom found out about Kimberly’s illness through the Runner’s World magazine and was approached by Barry to dedicate a marathon for Kim at the Disney Marathon in the “team in training” program of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Runners in the past have raised $7 million dollars from people all over the world. Barry and Tom have a goal of $5,000 a piece and will need your help. The run is slated for January 7, 2001 at Disney World. It will be a grueling 26.2 miles of wild country. There will be 13,000 individuals involved in the run.
Tom and Barry will also be running for Kyla Anderson, a four year old girl from Oregon who is battling leukemia. It is an open marathon ― open to anyone who wants to run. Tom and Barry can be contacted for more information. Make sure to mention Tom Hill and Barry Costa when sending in your contributions. Contributions can be sent to: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 6501 S.W. Macadamia Ave., Portland, Oregon 97201.
