Newly developed time- and labor-saving equipment may pave the way to your success in 2001.

Foresight and forethought to the future needs of the cleaning industry has become prevalent in the minds of many manufacturers. The demand for powerful, labor- and time-saving products, coupled with superior customer service and technical support, has increased exponentially, and will continue to do so.

Equipment users can be divided into two groups. On one side of the spectrum are those that are satisfied with what’s available now and believe today’s equipment is capable of doing just about everything they could ever want. On the other side are those who will always want more, which of course includes faster and more streamlined operations.

At ICS Cleaning Specialist, staff members decided to take a look at what’s in store for 2001 for the carpet cleaning equipment and restoration industries. We think you’ll be pleased.

INDEQ recently launched Carpet Rescue, a patent-pending carpet remediation process designed for the deep cleaning and sanitization of carpeted surfaces, which previously may have been destined for disposal due to significant contamination concerns. The four-step carpet treatment process combines the proper use and application of three specified INDEQ formulations with high efficiency carpet cleaning equipment.

The first two steps of the carpet decontamination process involve the pre-treatment of the carpet surface with a predetermined quantity of both an aqueous oxidizing agent and an EPA-registered carpet sanitizer/cleaner. The combination initiates the contaminant reduction process, while at the same time helps to prepare the carpet fibers for more effective penetration and cleaning. Subsequent steps include adding INDEQ’s EPA registered disinfectant to the extraction tank, followed by a post-extraction fogging of the room using the company’s aqueous oxidizing agent.

New from HydraMaster is a patent pending, “jetless” upholstery cleaning technology that unlocks significant new cleaning advantages. The company’s DriMaster(tm) system cleans drier and without a second pass. The tool is ergonomically designed, without a solution trigger to cause operator fatigue and hand strain. The patented system “shears” away soil with a channeled sheet of hot water, without penetrating the fabric and it's easy to use.

Key Floor Care & Restoration has developed the Bonnet Cleaning Ride (BCR). The unit’s 21st century technology has been designed to speed through medium and large alike, and to make tasks easier for the industry’s hardworking professionals. BCR cleans an average of 5,000 sq. ft. per hour, cleans a straight edge against walls and baseboards (with no overspray), and also cleans in reverse. The unit’s versatility is seen in its many uses, including shampooing and spray buffing.

Features include: 60 psi 24-volt pump with forward and reverse sprayers; floating head assembly; powder-coated steel and aluminum construction; keyed console with digital battery gauge, horn, direction and speed controls, and emergency stop button; a sprayer that works in both continuous and hand-held monetary modes; four 6-volt, 135-amp batteries for non-stop cleaning; and more.

Green Dolphin Systems Corp. has unveiled Non-Slip coating, a new product formulated to increases the coefficient of friction when surfaces are subjected to water. Without changing the surface of which it is applied to, Non-Slip becomes part of the surface ceramic tile, terrazzo, porcelain, glazed brick, concrete, and others slip-prone surfaces, and other commercial, industrial and residential hard mineral settings.

According to Green Dolphin, a bathtub/shower installation require less than 10 minutes to apply, while a commercial floor can be completed at the rate of 100 sq. ft. per hour, per man.

Following installation, treatment applied to commercial and industrial floors are guaranteed for two years; residential tubs and showers carry a three-year guarantee; and commercial tubs and show treatments are guaranteed for two years.

Rug Doctor has developed new hard surface cleaning attachments that work with the company’s Mighty Pro and Wide Track carpet cleaning machines. These revolutionary new tools combine with the compact design and portability of the Rug Doctor machines to achieve a wall, ceiling and hard floor surface cleaning system.

If you think there’s nothing new in the carpet cleaning industry, prepare to be amazed. Renew Systems, a Prochem Partner, is proud to introduce System I caret care. This enzyme-based breakthrough gets carpets cleaners and helps keep them clean through outstanding resistance to re-soiling. System I products are non-toxic, non-hazardous, biodegradable and environmentally safe.

System I benefits include: Cleans and decontaminates more thoroughly to improve carpet appearance and indoor air quality; helps carpet resist re-soiling, increasing the time needed between extractions; atomic, so it helps remove static from the carpet, pH neutral; changes the chemical structure of odor-causing elements; waste water is “sewerable” after the extraction process and enzymes will continue working in the drainage system to eliminate grease build-up and odors.

Universal Silencer has developed a silencer especially for Petersen Inc. for its new Vortex carpet cleaning truck. The silencer is a combination reactive/absorptive unit that reflects and absorbs noise. The silencer acts like a muffler for the vacuum blower, with the addition of a special type of continuous-fiber acoustic fill for high-performance silencing. Petersen Inc. and Universal Silencer came up with a unique design that not only reduced broadband noise, but was compact and rugged enough to fit comfortably under the truck.

Did you know that the water you are using could make cleaning more work for you, and cost you time and money? With the use of reverse osmosis, cleaners can reduce the time spent on each window or other cleaning application. The Tucker Pole Systems RO membrane pre- and post-filters is designed to remove up to 98% of all salts, hard water minerals, and other dissolved and suspended solids. The units are easy to operate and have easily accessible parts for service.

Bolden’s Manufacturing, inventors of the new technology Hydro-X Extreme Extraction System, has announced their latest Hydro-X accessory, the G.T.O. (Guaranteed To Outperform) Vac Pac. Quickly retrofitted onto any Hydro-X, it provides a self-contained vacuum source for the Hydro-X Extreme Extraction System. Together, a Hydro-X with a G.T.O. Vac Pac eliminates huge vacuum losses caused by moving large water volumes (required during extraction) through lengthy hoses. Difficult water lifts (such as from a basement) are also eliminated. Another option with this unit is you can now attach a hose and flood wand for extracting hard surfaced floors and glue down carpet. These features make an extraction system with unmatched versatility.

The Hydro-X with its companion G.T.O. Vac Pac now functions as a more efficient “extraction truck.” This frees up your truckmount for cleaning use.

Dri-Eaz Products invites you to ride the new wave in flood extractors—introducing the new Flood Pro. It’s lightweight, affordable, easy to use and extracts more water faster than its competitors on more types of carpet.

The new Dri-Eaz Flood Pro weighs in at just 56 lbs, so it’s a breeze to load and unload, and it’s easy to use! The operator’s weight is all you need. The Flood Pro outperforms its competition by extracting more water, and it’s effective on all types of carpets including plush, berber and gluedown. Other Flood Pro features include a collapsible handle, fewer parts, rugged construction, and a 7-year limited warranty.
