DALTON, Ga.-- Gary Kenworthy has retired from the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) after 30 years in the industry, the last six with CRI.

Kenworthy joined CRI to create and direct its "Seal of Approval" program. His responsibilities also included director of the Floor Covering Installation Board (FCIB), director of Governmental Issues and, recently, Governmental Issues Specialist.

At CRI, Kenworthy was active on the Seal of Approval Board of Directors, FCIB Board, Governmental Issues Committee, Chief Financial Officers Council, Tax Accountants Committee, PAC, Economic Issues, Safety Committee, Human Resources Committee and the Canadian anti-dumping issues.

CRI President Werner Braun stated, "It is with reluctance that we accept Gary's retirement. He has earned great respect among CRI staff as well as members of the industry. Gary has generated a long list of accomplishments throughout his years of service here. We wish Gary the very best retirement possible and all the success possible with his horse farm."

Kenworthy lives near Dalton with his wife, Wanda. They have two grown children, and plan to spend much of their time breeding, training, and showing purebred Arabian horses at "Paradise," their horse farm.

The Dalton, Ga.-based Carpet and Rug Institute ( is the national trade association representing the carpet and rug industry. Its membership consists of manufacturers representing 94 percent of all carpet produced in the U.S., and suppliers of raw materials and services to the industry. There is continued coordination with other segments of the industry, such as distributors, retailers, and installers.
