ARCS Announces Tour of Cutting-Edge Cleaning Facility

DALLAS, TX. February 10, 2011 – A tour and hands-on evaluation of a state-of-the-art rug washing facility has been scheduled by the newly-formed Association of Rug Care Specialists (ARCS).  Dive into Rug Cleaning will take place April 29-30, 2011 at Deep Eddy Rug and Carpet Cleaners in Austin, Texas and is open to all rug care professionals.

“Dive into Rug Cleaning is an opportunity for rug cleaners at all experience levels to evaluate cutting-edge technologies at one of the most complete plants in the world,” according to Bon Ton Rugs’ Buzz Dohanian, a Founding Member of the ARCS. “Participants will leave with an in-depth knowledge of rug cleaning techniques, a new range of options for providing their customers with the best possible service, and a competitive edge in their markets.”

Deep Eddy is one of the few facilities in the U.S. to feature pit cleaning, a Mor rinser/wringer, Greek centrifuge, and Butler stationary machine under one roof. In addition, it is home to the unique Rainwater Rug Cleaning System.  This range of technologies will be of particular interest to rug cleaners interested in growing their operations.

Recent entrants into the rug care business will benefit from the perspectives of some of the nation’s leading experts in the three major rug cleaning techniques: hand cleaning, washing, and surface cleaning.

Hand cleaning is used on many delicate silk rugs, tapestries, and Navajo rugs with unstable dyes. The process may involve wet or dry cleaning or a combination of the two. Screens are often used in the process so that cleaning tools do not come in contact with the rugs.

Washing involves scrubbing and rinsing rugs. Deep Eddy uses a breakthrough rainwater technology that washes rugs in a natural Ph that minimizes fringe browning.

Surface cleaning is used on rugs that cannot be saturated, but require greater efficiency than hand cleaning.

On day one of the educational event, participants will have an opportunity to closely observe and participate in each cleaning technique in interactive sessions with leading experts. The following day will be devoted to in-depth discussions of front-burner topics including post cleaning inspection and fringe correction, removing fugitive dyes and stains, and the most profitable hand repairs.

Dive into Rug Cleaning will also include a question and answer session featuring some of the country’s most experienced rug cleaners, a presentation on using marketing and direct mail to drive revenue growth, and unlimited networking opportunities, according to Dohanian.

Cost of participating in Dive into Rug Cleaning is $500 for ARCS members and $600 for non-members, with a $100 discount for those who register before March 15, 2011.
