The National Institute of Disaster Restoration (NIDR) an institute of the Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration (ASCR) recently conducted symposiums for more than 200 restoration specialists on the after effects of a fire.

Topics covered included: the specifics of corrosion; emergency building mitigation; electronics and data restoration; mold containment, authorizations, protections, testing and treatments; and the specifics related to health and safety on the job with a focus on the importance of preplanning. In addition Terry Smith presented a project that involved fire, smoke, and water damage in a commercial printing firm. A follow up seminar is scheduled for September 2001 in Chicago, Ill.
