The Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration has put together a list of suggestions for homeowners drying out basements and other flood areas, including taking up saturated rugs and carpets when hardwood floors are at risk; freezing valuable books and documents to retard mildew growth until drying can be performed; ventilating wet areas; spreading out and drying wet fabrics as soon as possible; contacting an experienced restoration firm for professional clean-up services and more.

"ASCR members are well-equipped and trained to respond to floods and the damage caused by heavy rains," ASCR President Brian Spiegel said. "Their goal is to assist property owners in restoring their homes as quickly as possible."
