Launching the mood for the day was BSCAI president Julian Greenland, CBSE, who presented awards to several key, inspiring individuals.
Receiving recognition for their selfless efforts were: James Matthews, CBSE, United Service Industries, with the James E. Purcell Award for long-term service to the association and the industry; William Carpenter, CBSE, Onesource Facility Services, with the Walter L. Cook Award for distinguished service; Peter Evans, CBSE, Servpro Cleaning Ltd., with the Williams I.S. HOGG Award for International Achievement; John Markey, CBSE, Absolute! Building Maintenance, with the Distinguished Service Award for Membership Promotion; Ryan Hendley, CBSE, IH Services, with the Outstanding Committee Chairman Award; and L. Dana Weaver Jr., Associated Building Services, with the Presidential Citation.
Two awards were stood out in the minds of the attendees and recipients alike. Recognized for his long-term service to the association, Jerome E. Rau was honored posthumously with the Industry Service Award. His son Mike accepted the honor for the Rau family.
Receiving a standing ovation from the crowd was William “Cappy” Caplinger Sr., who was honored as Custodian of the Year. Cappy, who has been with the Z-Tech Companies for more than 14 years, was recognized for his job performance, civic involvement and family role qualities. Those who missed his acceptance speech truly missed an opportunity to meet this gentle man.
In the final hour of the general session, attendees were treated to an entertaining production put on by the well-known Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. These ladies literally rocked the house with their high-energy routines, and audience participation program.
