July 2, 2009 -- A carpet-cleaning van became a fire engine Tuesday when the driver saw a grass fire on the freeway shoulder.
"He knocked it down by the time we got there," said acting Lt. Gregg Helem of Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue.
Helems said fireworks caused the 10-by-20-foot grass fire, which was reported around 5:20 p.m. at milepost 41 of Interstate 5 southbound. Want the whole story?
