The Carpet and FabriCare Institute kept up its usual busy schedule all the way through 2008, and shows no sign of letting up in 2009, as recent and upcoming events show.

President Matt Sanders was a featured instructor on the subject of CO-2 surfacing cleaning at the Abatix Awareness Day event. The session was well received, and Matt provided the eager attendees with both classroom time and hands-on demonstrations. Abatix is a valued supporter of the CFI.

Chapter Director Graham Bedwell announces that on February 5, 2009 at 6:00 pm there will be a chapter meeting held at CTS Pro Cleaning Products, 2491 Rubidoux Blvd Riverside, CA. Director Rick Lewis reports that the intensive "Advanced Two-Day Hands On Upholstery Class" instructed by Steve Marsh was a huge success. This class was a CFI member benefit held at Rick`s new facility in San Mateo, and will be offered again soon.
The annual members “GIVE BACK” volunteer carpet cleaning and Bar-B-Que will be at the Ronald McDonald House in Palo Alto on February 21 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Cleaners Coffee Club" invites everyone to join in with a new CFI member benefit at Pro Line Carpet Maintenance Supply on the first Tuesday of every month. There is no cost for this monthly get together, and this month will feature Tim Baker, who will give tips and hands-on tricks for cleaning upholstery. Director Norma McCormick reports that Guaranteed Clean Carpet Systems did a Holiday Boutique to benefit the Child Crisis Center in Mesa, Arizona and raised $400 for the non profit organization. In January Kjell Andreassen with Acceler8 will be discussing taking small businesses to the next level. Kjell is an experienced entrepreneur, business executive and business advisor. He has an MBA from ASU and is an Accredited Executive Associate of the Institute for Independent Business and an associate professor at Western International University.
The CFI Master Mind group invites everyone to our breakfast meeting at the Roadhouse on 24th Street and University in Phoenix are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 am. Any and all are encouraged to attend for brainstorming on any issues or problems they might be encountering. Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT ) March 3-6
Our mold and sewage back flow remediation technician class includes a hands-on section and the exam for IICRC certification. The course provides the necessary training to conduct or evaluate remediation projects. Course prerequisite is the attendance of a water damage restoration technician (WRT) class. This AMRT class also qualifies for IICRC continuous education credits (CEC). Future class dates are June 23-26 and October 27-30.
Health and Safety Technician (HST) March 17-18
This 2-day course provides the necessary OSHA health and safety training for the construction industry. OSHA Construction Industry Regulations apply to all microbial remediation projects and are often overlooked by contractors. Completion of the health and safety course is a requirement for the AMRT/S certification through the IICRC. Participants will receive your OSHA 10-hour Health and Safety Card upon completion of the course.
Moisture Mapping Workshop - April 2
What you always wanted to know about your meters and instruments. This comprehensive moisture testing workshop takes you from beginning levels through advanced skills. Most technicians are familiar with the basic use of moisture meters. However, many are not aware of the underlying physical principals, their limitations, the do’s and don’ts, and when not to believe your measurement results. We will address the physical principles, techniques, methods, applications and limitations of the different tools and instruments. Industry standards and their important documentation requirements will be reviewed. CEC credit from IICRC, RIA and IAQ Council.
