The Carpet and FabriCare Institute welcomes new Los Angeles Chapter Director Vincent Attardo. Vince is CEO and president of Coastline Environmental Solutions, Inc., and has served two previous terms as CFI Los Angeles Chapter Director. Vince has written several articles relating to mold and water damage, and has recently served two years on the Certification Board for the American Indoor Air Quality Council. Orange/Inland Empire Chapter Director Graham Bedwell says this is the year for education. On April 27 there will be a chapter meeting at California Cleaning Supply in Fullerton. Popular IICRC instructor and Bill Baily award winner Jim Smith will enlighten the attendees on “Surviving In Today’s Economy”. There is no charge for this event. The May meeting will feature “Exactimate and Sewer Remediation” with Pat Moffett at the ACR Facility in San Bernardino.

Central Coast/Northern California Chapter Director Rick Lewis reports that “The Cleaners Coffee Club” held at Pro Line Carpet Maintenance Supply is going strong at their locations in San Carlos and Sacramento. If you were not at one of the last meetings you missed a great discussion courtesy of Dri-Eaz on the not-so-dry subject of “How to Use & Maintain Dehumidifiers and Air Movers.” Everyone is invited to join in at no cost. The meetings in Sacramento are held on the first Monday of every month from 8:00 am to 9:30 am, at 4061 Palm Ave. The meetings in San Carlos are held on the first Tuesday of every month, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am, at 1033 Center St.

The April Coffee Club meetings will feature “Gadgets That Make the Job Easier” with Steven of The Maker Co., and May will be “How to Up-Sell Carpet Protectors” with Tim Baker. For further information call Rick at (650) 766-5630.

Arizona Chapter Director Norma McCormick reports that the last meeting featuring hands-on furniture cleaning tips and procedures with Greg Dugger of the Arizona Environmental Group went very well. In addition, Mark Roake reviewed carpet repairs and installation. There was also a very successful Navajo Rug Reunion wtih free informal appraisals with Mary Walker of Weaving in Beauty.

The “CFI Master Mind Group” invites everyone to its breakfast meeting at the Roadhouse on 24th Street and University in Phoenix are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 am. Any and all are encouraged to attend for brainstorming on any issues or problems they might be encountering. For information call Norma at (480) 821-1481 or e-mail

San Diego Chapter Director Gabe Mathews says that the meeting at Carpet Cleaners Emporium was great. Pat Moffett spoke on crime scene cleanup. He let us know of the regulations and procedures to help us get certified in this field, and he made us aware of the money we were leaving on the table if we are not doing this kind of work. The San Diego Chapter invites everyone to its monthly breakfast meeting on the first Tuesday of each month, 7:30 am, at The Original Pancake House, 3906 Convoy St. in San Diego. You can gain knowledge on what works and what doesn’t in chemicals, marketing, procedures, machinery, etc. If you are new, come and learn from the pros. For information call Gabe at 619-454-0497.
