The central California chapter of the Carpet & Fabric Institute (CFI) will sponsor the first “Operation Carpet Care-ing,” on Aug. 18 at the offices of New Advances for People with Disabilities in Bakersfield, Calif.

Professional carpet cleaners from southern San Joaquin Valley California will offer their services to the elderly, shut-ins, the handicapped or to people unable to afford professional carpet cleaning. The cleaners will also install smoke detectors donated by the Bakersfield Fire Department.

Area non-profits will help CFI determine who will be benefit most from these services. Currently, CFI is still looking for carpet cleaners to participate in the event.
