Chapter Director Vince Attardo reports that a great LA Chapter meeting was held last month at Fibermark in Santa Monica. Fibermark founder and CEO Mark Goodman was the gracious host and moderator for the evening. He covered uncommon solutions to rug, carpet, and upholstery cleaning concerns, the importance of doing a thorough inspection of the articles to be cleaned, and the vital importance of proper communication with our clients to achieve realistic expectations.

Chapter Directors Graham Bedwell and Vince Attardo recently held a joint Regional Education Day and Swap Meet at Central California Cleaning Supply in Fullerton. There was lots of hands-on training and demonstrations on a number of subjects. Thanks to hosts Felix Gonzales and Shawn Forsythe, who were ready to answer all cleaning questions.

Central Coast/Northern California
Chapter Director Rick Lewis reports a recent chapter meeting held at Carpet Maintenance Supply in San Mateo attracted 13 attendees, who were all treated to a great BBQ tri-tip dinner. There was a roundtable discussion with everyone sharing information on what are the top three tips that have helped them in their business. Guest speaker Glen Galatan put on a cleaning presentation. In addition, there was a hands-on cleaning and product testing of new equipment from Sapphire Scientific.

October 19, Chapter Director Norma McCormick is bringing in Norma Huibregtse with Captivated Customers, who will show how to create raving fans and develop an effective sales and marketing strategy that yields ROI. And on Oct. 24 there will be a swap meet at the Clean Center in Peoria. Are you looking for some great deals? Then you don’t want to miss this event.

San Diego
Chapter Director Gabe Mathews is holding the monthly breakfast meeting at 7:30am on the first Tuesday of each month at The Original Pancake House, 3906 Convoy St. in San Diego. Everyone’s invited; just pay for your own breakfast and network with other cleaners, restorers, rug cleaners and suppliers. You can gain knowledge on what works and what doesn’t in chemicals, marketing, procedures, machinery, etc. For more on the happenings with the CFI, go to www.carpet9.org.
