Chapter Happenings

All the CFI chapters have been busy these past weeks with meetings and educational courses.

San Diego sponsored an evening Chapter Meeting at A & I Services in San Diego. The speaker was Barry Costa and the discussion revolved around the topics of water damage and mold.

A & I Services in San Diego also hosted an AMRT course in March. Taught by Peter Sierck of Environmental Testing and Technology and used CFI’s newly constructed “mobile mold Training facility.” This four-day course is presently the most extensive “hands on” training in mold and sewage remediation available.

Speakers Tim Paulson of Piranha Marketing and Joe Domin of Prochem both shared their vast experience with attendees at a recent chapter meeting in Phoenix. Hosted by Bridgepoint Systems. Attendees learned about new technologies in fabric protection and Tim shared his extensive knowledge of marketing. He is a former vice president of Hair Club For Men.

Your board of directors meets four times a year to map out the future of CFI. All positions are volunteer except that of executive director. These folks put in a lot of time and effort to make your association work. The meetings taking place, the schools being sponsored and the incredible Connections ’03 Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas this year are all a result of their hard work.

CFI involvement is not all work, though. Directors, Gabriel Peretti and Mike Perras relaxed at the Palm Springs estate of a friend after an invigorating day of rock climbing in Joshua Tree. A lot of good friendships have been formed over the years in CFI. Ya gotta have some fun!

At a recent Los Angeles Chapter meeting at Klean-Rite distributors in the San Fernando Valle , Don David of AAA Dye and Carpet Cleaning Supply described opportunities in spot repair and stain removal.

At another recent L.A. Chapter meeting, Bruce White of Forensic Analytical discussed the latest in mold remediation and answered tons of great questions on what mistakes remediators make most often.

Also, at a recent Orange Inland Regional Education Day, the Value Added Service Technician course was offered. This Jon Don program is one of the finest “customer service oriented” training programs available.
