MoreDALTON, Ga.--The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) has announced the retirement of Kathryn Sellers, who has been active with communications efforts since 1993 and who came to CRI when the carpet industry was addressing misinformed media and regulatory concerns about carpet and air quality issues.
Working with experts from member companies and CRI staff, she assisted with the communication of carpet benefits messages and facts about indoor air quality issues. Tasks included the development and implementation of industrywide advertising and public relations programs, development of consumer and technical publications and the CRI Web sites.
Sellers also coordinated media inquiries and worked with newspapers, magazines, broadcast media and design and specification organizations to present positive carpet and rug fashion and performance information.
CRI president Werner Braun said, "It is with reluctance that we accept Kathryn's retirement. She has earned great respect among CRI staff as well as members of the media. Kathryn has generated a long list of accomplishments throughout her years of service here. We wish Kathryn the very best retirement possible."
Sellers' plans include enjoying family, community affairs and freelance communications.
The Dalton, Ga.-based Carpet and Rug Institute (www.carpet-rug.com) is the national trade association representing the carpet and rug industry. Its membership consists of manufacturers representing 94 percent of all carpet produced in the U.S., and suppliers of raw materials and services to the industry. There is continued coordination with other segments of the industry, such as distributors, retailers, and installers.
