The CRI has named John L. Miller III its manager of Governmental Affairs.

DALTON, Ga.--John L. Miller III has been named manager of Governmental Affairs for the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI).

CRI president Werner Braun announced Miller's position and responsibilities, which include handling government relations activities at the state and local level throughout the southeast and the western parts of the U.S. He will also be significantly involved with the CRI Political Action Committee.

Prior to coming to CRI, Miller spent nearly 10 years as assistant general counsel of Shaw Industries (www.shawinc.com). He also served as an associate counsel for J.C. Penny Co. (www3.jcpenney.com) in Dallas for six years, and worked as an associate legal counsel for Georgia International Life Insurance Co. in Atlanta for five years.

Braun said, "the addition of John will greatly assist CRI in becoming more much responsive to member's needs. He will be a great asset in the legislative and regulatory arena and is also very familiar with worldwide and legal issues. We will continue to strengthen CRI's staff to increase advocacy for carpet and the industry to as many audiences as possible."

The Dalton, Ga.-based Carpet and Rug Institute (www.carpet-rug.com) is the national trade association representing the carpet and rug industry. Its membership consists of manufacturers representing 94 percent of all carpet produced in the U.S., and suppliers of raw materials and services to the industry. There is continued coordination with other segments of the industry, such as distributors, retailers, and installers.
