MoreJULY 1 -- Tampa, Fla. – Robert G. (Bob) Baker has announced the launch of a new business venture. The RGB Group will provide advisory and consulting services on the relationship of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems) maintenance to indoor air quality. The RGB Group will concentrate on how to maintain systems in an effective yet cost effective manner that returns more in operating efficiency than the cost of the maintenance.
Baker will be joined in this enterprise by Ross Montgomery, PE, who has extensive experience in designing and optimizing building automation and management systems. Montgomery is the principal of Quality Systems and Technology and a past director of ASHRAE. Also joining RGB is Carl Lawson, PE, widely recognized as an authority on commissioning of HVAC systems to assure that they meet design objectives. The addition of several other individuals to the firm is expected to be announced this summer.
One important objective of The RGB Group is to promote the utilization of the new ASHRAE/ACCA/ANSI Standard 180 (Inspection and Maintenance of Commercial Building HVAC Systems). Baker has been chair of the consensus body that has been developing this new standard which is expected to be published later this year. Baker is also the current president of the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA).
“The launch of the RGB Group allows me to realize a long held passion; the enhancement of HVAC maintenance practices,” said Baker, whose life was changed decades ago when four patients died because of illness confirmed to be related to contaminated air-handlers at a medical center where he was vice president of administrative services.
