The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) recently concluded a study, “Outlook on Outsourcing,” that concluded more than 70% of the survey’s study utilize outsourcing as part of a company strategic plan.

According to the survey, the 10 services most often outsourced are, in order: architectural design, trash and waste removal, housekeeping, facility systems, landscape maintenance, property appraisals, major moves, hazardous materials removal, major redesigns and furniture moves.

The “Outlook on Outsourcing” report is based on a six-page questionnaire sent to 4,000 North American IFMA members. Questions included the motivation to outsource, perceived benefits, vendor selection, contract management and methods for monitoring service quality.
