Industry figure, former Steam Way chairman dies

Ralph Bloss, former chairman of Steam Way International and a well-known and respected figure in the cleaning and restoration industry, died April 19 at the age of 79.

Bloss joined Steam Way, a manufacturer of carpet and upholstery cleaning equipment and chemicals, in 1972. He went on to purchase the company in 1982, working with his wife and sons up until his death.

During a 32-year career Bloss was recognized by more than 14 regional and national trade associations for his contributions to the growth, professionalism and education of the cleaning and restoration industry, receiving each group’s highest honor. In 2001 he was recognized by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification for a lifetime of contributions to the promotion of technical expertise and excellence in learning in the industry.

Bloss is survived by his wife Anjunell; sons Doyle and Greg; daughter Sharolyn Bloss Nungester, and seven grandchildren.
