Wednesday, June 18, the first 80 registrants will have the opportunity to tour the manufacturing facilities of Karastan Rugs and Culp Upholstery. ICS columnist and industry expert Jeff Bishop recalls the first time he toured the Culp facility five years ago.
“We followed the fiber through the blending, carding and combing process. Then we saw that fiber made into yarn through crimping, drawing, plying or air entangling,” Bishop said. “We even saw a variety of novelty yarns made, consisting of core, effect and binder yarns – all put together as we watched. Amazing!”
Wednesday will also feature a golf tournament sponsored by Sun-Belt at the Bryan Park Champions Course.
The convention is scheduled to include a variety of educational seminars, including “Rug Indentification,” “Minding Your Own Business,” “Understanding Leather,” “Encapsulation: Key to Commercial Success,” and more.
