About the New Board Members
Vice president/president elect David Holtzman is vice president of R3 (Reliable Redistribution Resource), an international wholesaler. He was previously president/owner of TEC Products Co.-a metro-New York City, fourth-generation family business established in 1910-and has been in the wholesale sanitary-supply distribution business for more than 30 years. Holtzman holds two MBAs from Pace University and has held several ISSA Board of Directors positions, including district director (1994-95) and secretary (2000-02). He has also served as ISSA’s Regulatory & Citizenship Committee chairman, YES coordinator (1998-99), and ISSA delegate to the National Association of Wholesaler Distributors. In addition, he has been active in the Sanitary Supply Wholesaling Association (SSWA), serving 15 years as a board member, as secretary/president (1983-84 and 2004-07), and as trustee (1980-89). In 2003, he was awarded the SSWA Stanley Friedman Award of Merit. Holtzman has also served in the New Jersey Sanitary Supply Association as a board member for 11 years, including as president (1988-90).
Secretary Richard L. Rones has worked in the sanitary-maintenance industry for 22 years and currently serves as president of the company founded by his father, Jim Rones-Americo Manufacturing Co., Inc., an Acworth, GA-based manufacturer of floor pads, hand pads, and floor matting that has been a member of ISSA for 38 years. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1986 with a bachelor’s in business, Rones joined Americo as a sales associate. During his tenure, he served as vice president of national accounts and vice president of operations before being promoted to president in 1998. Rones has also served as Southeast district director on the ISSA Board of Directors (2004-06), on the ISSA Exhibitors Committee (2000), and as secretary on the Georgia Sanitary Supply Association’s board of directors (2001-03).
Manufacturer director Allen M. Soden is the president of Stanley, NC-based Deb SBS, Inc. Prior to Deb SBS, Soden had been executive vice president of Zep Manufacturing Co. for 20 years. He graduated from the University of Florida and was active in a variety of campus organizations there, including serving as president of his college fraternity. He completed his executive MBA at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and is a past recipient of Ten Outstanding Young People in Atlanta, or TOYPA. Soden has been involved in several civic and nonprofit organizations in Atlanta in various leadership positions. He mentors young people on career direction and is always available to help anyone who needs business and career advice. In addition, he was selected as a Wexner Leadership Fellow by the boards of various organizations he has served on.
Distributor director-west Leland Fishman has been involved in the sanitary-supply industry for 27 years. He is the president of Fishman Supply Co., a janitorial- and industrial-supply company located in Petaluma, CA. He oversees the operation of two warehouse locations, 15 sales professionals, and 50 employees. He is involved in major-account retention, vendor relations, and community affairs. Currently, Fishman is on the health care steering committee for AFFLINK and spent the last five years on the Nobles distributor council. He began his career in sales, but took over day-to-day operations in 1990. Outside of the industry, he is the president elect of the Petaluma Sunrise Rotary Club and spent five years as a board member of the Petaluma Boys & Girls Club; he has also spent five years on the board of trustees for Petaluma Valley Hospital and 28 years on the board of directors of the Rancho Adobe Fire District.
Director-Canada Steven Armstrong is vice president/owner of Armstrong Manufacturing, Inc., a 100 percent Canadian-owned manufacturing company in Mississauga, ON, Canada, that has been in existence for more than 35 years. He is presently the company’s operations manager, dealing with all day-to-day operations. Armstrong has been a member of ISSA and the Canadian Sanitation Supply Association (CSSA) for more than 30 years. He was president of CSSA in 1989-90 and is presently the treasurer of its scholarship foundation, working with this committee since its inception. In addition, he was vice president of YES in 1990-91 during that organization’s founding years. He has been an avid contributor to both ISSA and CSSA, bringing a number of contributions to each. He is also involved in many community-volunteer organizations, raising funds to support a variety of causes.
