Lincolnwood, IL, USA-ISSA has renewed its alliance with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for the purpose of promoting a safe work environment for all workers in the cleaning industry.

First signed in 2005, the alliance provides ISSA members and the cleaning industry at large with a wealth of information and guidance on various occupational safety and health topics, including hazard communication; bloodborne pathogens; personal protective equipment; and slips, trips, and falls in the workplace.

“The renewal of our alliance with OSHA provides ISSA with the unique opportunity to work directly with the agency to address key employee health and safety issues that are of particular concern to the cleaning industry,” says ISSA President Kyle Ogden. “The resources that have been produced through the alliance to date, such as the online ISSA Safety and Health Portal, have had a positive impact on employee health and safety, and our renewed alliance allows us to continue working with OSHA in a collaborative and effective manner.”

Through the alliance with OSHA, ISSA staff has created a one-of-a-kind Web network, known as the ISSA Safety and Health Portal, dedicated exclusively to protecting the health and safety of cleaning industry employees.

As part of its renewed ISSA/OSHA alliance, ISSA anticipates an increased emphasis on warehouse safety and issues related to personal protective equipment. In addition, ISSA is collaborating with OSHA representatives on the development of a Safety and Health Topics Web page that is focused specifically on the cleaning industry and is expected to launch in 2007.
