ISSA Web site gets 1 million hits

An increased emphasis on its Internet presence is paying off for the International Sanitary and Supply Association, as August figures show that "hits" to the site broke previous records.

CHICAGO, Ill. -- A greater emphasis on its Internet presence is paying off for Chicago-based ISSA, the International Sanitary and Supply Association, as August figures show that "hits" to the site broke previous records.

According to ISSA, all figures relating to the sites usage has jumped dramatically in the past six months and most especially from this time last year. In August, more than 1 million successful hits were recorded. This nearly doubles the number recorded to the ISSA web sites (www.issa.com and www.jansan.com) in 2000. The number of "Unique Users" has more than doubled to more than 21,000 per month while the number of user sessions per month now tops 53,000, another hefty increase.

According to ISSA, the strategic planning process concluded last July with the ISSA Executive Director John Garfinkel and the ISSA Board of Directors emphasizing Web sites and technology. The process resulted in the creation of a Web team consisting of Lori Crane, David Martinez, Josephine Jyon, Robert Kravitz, and lead by Rebecca Pando.

The team has already produced major changes to the three-year-old site. "John told us to make ISSA.com a major source of information for our industry," said Crane. "I think the big jump in viewers to the site shows our work is now paying off."

The site has been revamped with greater organization, navigation, substance and appearance in mind. The site includes more news, content, images and photos making it more useful and pleasant to view.

Plans are underway to enlarge the issa.com Web site, and address the various segments of the JanSan industry. The new site should be up by the first quarter of 2002, according to ISSA.

ISSA is the largest and the oldest association for the cleaning industry in the world, with more than 4600 members including most of the major manufacturers and distributors in the cleaning industry. Its annual convention, ISSA/INTERCLEAN, to be held this year in Orlando, Fla., traditionally attracts more than 17,500 attendees annually.
