MoreCHICAGO -- The Board of Directors of the National Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD) has slated a new trade show to serve the floor covering industry.
The "International Flooring Exposition" (IFE) will be run in collaboration with the "International Tile and Stone Exposition" (ITSE) under the "Coverings" mark. The first edition of the NAFCD's new flooring trade show will be held May 6-9 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
The Board of the NAFCD (www.NAFCD.com) recently reached an agreement with the ceramic tile associations to have IFE run concurrently with the well-established ITSE trade exposition. The collaboration is expected to provide a strong jump-start for the success of NAFCD's new show.
"The Board of our Association strongly support this important new event," said NAFCD president Hoy Lanning. "It is in our member's best interest, as well as the industry's, to retain a strong measure of control and equity in an industry event such as IFE. As a symbol of our commitment to inclusion, we have reserved seats on the show board and plan to provide equity for other flooring associations."
Arden Kelley, NAFCD vice president, added, "The eastern portion of the United States represents over 60 percent of the floor covering market. For some time now our east coast members have been missing an annual event where our members could meet in an easily accessible site with their suppliers and customers. These retailers need, and indeed deserve, to be able to meet face to face with representatives of manufacturers on a regular basis without traveling such great distances. An annual trade event in the eastern sector of the country fills this void. That is why the NAFCD is taking this initiative."
