The Association of Rug Care Specialists (ARCS) has announced the members of its Executive Committee for 2012-13: Bill Foulds of Deep Eddy Rug Cleaners in Austin, TX will serve a second term as president of the association. The newly-elected vice president is William Thornton of Oriental Rug Care in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Also newly elected is Justin Woodard, Woodard Cleaning and Restoration, St. Louis, MP, who will serve as secretary. Armen Dohanian III of Oriental Rug Care in Dallas, TX has accepted a second term as treasurer. Ken Adams of ABC Oriental Rug and Carpet Cleaning in Ithaca, NY joins the Executive Committee for the first time as advisory committee representative.

Also named were ARCS committee chairs. Linda Plunkett of AWPOV Rug Specialist in Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL will chair the Membership Committee; Armen Dohanian III will lead the Education Committee; William Thornton will chair the IT Committee; and the Certified Rug Specialist Committee will be chaired by Buzz Dohanian of Bon Ton Rug Cleansers in Watertown, MA.

The Executive Committee members and Committee chairs were approved at the Association’s annual meeting on April 28, 2012.

“The ARCS has made tremendous strides since it was founded in December 2010, thanks to the many rug care professionals who have donated their time and expertise to the association,” said Foulds. “Our members have supported their efforts with a 100 percent membership renewal rate and I’m looking forward to working with our officers, board, and committee chairs to continue to build on that momentum over the coming year.”

Executive Development Program

As part of its educational mission, the ARCS has agreed to join three other leading flooring industry trade associations in the Partnership for Executive Development and Business Growth at the University of Pennsylvania. This unique program, which will combine two educational sessions on the Penn campus with eight weeks of on-line learning, is only available to owners and managers of businesses which are members of the four associations in the Partnership.  Courses will be designed to raise the personal development and business management skills of the participants, teach tools and concepts that can be applied to the day-to-day operations of their businesses and help them explore opportunities for maximizing market share and business growth. Further details of the program will be announced in the coming weeks.
