Cincinnati (AP) -- Procter & Gamble Co. bought Moist Mates, a bath tissue product, from its California producer and plans to reintroduce the product under the name Charmin Fresh Mates.

P&G bought the tissue line from Moist Mates LLC, of Placentia, Calif., according to the Associated Press. P&G declined to say what it paid.

Cotton Buds Inc., also of Placentia, has been producing the product under contract to Moist Mates LLC. Cotton Buds will continue to handle the manufacturing for Procter & Gamble, the news release said.

P&G plans to introduce the renamed product regionally in July starting in stores in the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic states, the report said.
