A Middlebury woman told Middlebury police that last Saturday morning she received a call from a female who said she was with the Kirby vacuum cleaner company, and she was offering a deal on carpet cleaning, according to a story in the Addison County Independent.

The Middlebury woman made an appointment to have her carpets cleaned later that day, and upon doing so the female asked if she would be home alone. The Middlebury woman responded that she would not be home alone.

Nobody showed up for the appointment and the Middlebury woman said when she called the phone number (802-777-8065), the same female she spoke earlier to answered but said she knew nothing about the vacuum cleaner company.
