30 Years of Excellence for SteamMaster

MINTURN, COLORADO – AUGUST 18, 2008: Two hundred clients and friends joined SteamMaster Restoration and Cleaning LLC in celebrating its 30th anniversary on Thursday, August 14 at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort. The evening included a performance by Impulse Theater, a comedy group from Denver that “roasted” members of SteamMaster’s management, including co-owners and husband and wife team, Gary Gilman and Julie Stoxen.

Gilman and Stoxen met in 1980, married shortly afterward, and now have a daughter named Maggie. “The last 30 years have flown by fast,” says Gilman. “It has been an enjoyable journey building a successful business and raising a loving family while living the lifestyle I love in the beautiful Colorado Mountains. It’s never too early to start planning the life you want to live.”

Gilman founded SteamMaster in 1978 with one truck mounted van to clean carpets. “We were kept busy with the demand for carpet cleaning services,” recalls Gilman. The company now has a fleet of over 20 vehicles, 40 employees and two locations. Upholstery cleaning and water extraction were added to the list of services. SteamMaster is a pioneer in services such as cleaning natural stone, tile and grout, and offers diamond grinding and the honing and polishing of marble, travertine and limestone. Gilman was one of the first contractors in the nation to utilize Dry Ice “Cryo” Blasting, a process now commonly utilized by mold remediation companies and recognized as the most thorough and efficient way to clean and remove contamination.

SteamMaster originally ran from Gilman and Stoxen’s home office in East Vail until a fire forced the company to move. Now having first-hand experience with a house fire, it was decided to add smoke and fire damage restoration services. The baking soda blasting used to clean, deodorize and remove soot from fire damaged structures has removed graffiti from local schools and skateboard parks.

While celebrating its past, SteamMaster also introduced its future endeavors, including a new service allowing customers to text “1call” to a short code number “41411.” “It is estimated that more than 80 percent of cell phone users have their phone all the time,” said Raj Manickam, SteamMaster’s C.E.O. “This means text messages are more likely to be read and responded to. It’s another way for customers to reach us quickly for our services.”

SteamMaster’s also showcased its “sister company” Colorado Basement Systems LLC which was launched in 2006 to prevent water intrusions and mold, reduce humidity and improve indoor air quality by providing crawl space and basement waterproofing services. Lynette Marie Lacerda, the new General Manager for the company, was introduced to the crowd at the event. Lacerda is a former SteamMaster employee who has returned to the area. “I jumped at the chance to work again with Gary,” says Lacerda. “I’m looking forward to helping our clients have healthier homes as well.” says Lacerda.
