ABM Industries appoints new corporate controller

SAN FRANCISCO--ABM Industries Incorporated recently selected Maria de la Pena as the company's new controller. De la Pena, 41, succeeds Vernon Skelton, 57, who retired after a 27-year career with ABM.

Reporting to ABM's senior vice president & chief financial officer, de la Pena will be responsible for general accounting and reporting; budgeting and planning; and financial analysis.

As a certified public accountant, de la Pena most recently served as controller at Vectiv Corporation in Berkeley, California. At Transamerica Financial Corporation, she was previously employed as assistant controller.

Before joining Transamerica in 1986, de la Pena was a senior auditor with the certified public accounting firm of Harb, Levy & Weiland in San Francisco. She received her bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of the Phillipines, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of San Francisco McLaren School of Business.
