Cleaners get tool for "Fingerprinting" mold

Air Quality Sciences Inc. recently developed the "Fingerprint Test," a microbial volatile organic compound (MVOC) sampling and analysis method that accelerates the detection of mold in buildings.

According to the company, MVOCs are released by molds and can be used as indicators of mold growth.

The technique uses a sorbent media to collect MVOCs in the air followed by thermal desorption and mass spectrometric analysis. The test detects more than 20 different MVOCs that are released by mold. Test results are available in a few hours.
