The Association of Wisconsin Cleaning Contactors (AWCC)
changed its name to Midwest Cleaning and Restoration Association, Inc (MCRA) on
Jan. 1. The new name better
represents the expanding geographic scope of the organization and an expanded
offering of programs and services launched in fall 2009 in Minnesota. Plans to expand further west to Iowa
are under development.
“We saw a great opportunity to serve cleaning and
restoration contractors in Minnesota and Iowa with education and services,”
said MCRA President Clint Parnell. “Our insurance program with partner West
Bend Mutual Insurance Company, is one of the best in the country to meet the
unique insurance needs of cleaning and restoration contractors. We hope to soon offer this program
throughout the Midwest.”
MCRA also offers educational seminars and IICRC
certification classes, special registration rates at national conventions, and
market member companies to customers through an expanded website on the Internet.
“During my time as president, I saw the need for greater
organization in our industry nationally,” said Past President Craig Kersemeier.
“By coming together as state and regional organizations, we have more power to
advance the professionalism of our overall industry. Time had arrived for AWCC to expand beyond Wisconsin.”
MCRA Executive Director, Jane Svinicki, CAE, credits the
leadership of the MCRA Board for the vision to expand the organization’s
scope. “Change is difficult,
especially when an organization is already successful. But our Board made the decision to go
forward with the expanded mission and new name, which was supported by our
membership.”
Additional information on membership and benefits will be
forthcoming.
