The group predicted an increase in attention to indoor air quality (IAQ) with the development of products for advanced air venting and air filtration; the development of more efficient housecleaning appliances; and the creation of materials with germ-resistant surfaces.
The report also predicted advances in medical monitoring of blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol from home; home energy efficiency; water quality; and in safe handling and storage of food. The scientists also explored the possibility of at-home plastic surgery for baby boomers.
