BISSELL Partners with EPA's Design for the Environment Program
April 22, 2008
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 22, 2008 - BISSELL Homecare, Inc. announced today that the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) program has recognized BISSELL as a DfE Partner. All BISSELL full-size deep-cleaning formulas will be allowed to display the DfE logo, which means that the DfE scientific review team has screened each ingredient for potential human health and environmental effects.
DfE partners have earned the right to display the DfE logo on recognized products. The EPA recognizes that BISSELL has invested heavily in research, development and reformulation to ensure that their ingredients and finished product line up on the green end of the health and environmental spectrum, while maintaining or improving product performance. The DfE logo is an easy-to-spot blue and green earth shaped symbol that helps shoppers quickly identify products that are safer for the environment and their families.
“This is exciting news for us to share on Earth Day 2008,” says Jim Krzeminski, BISSELL's executive vice president of product development, sales and marketing. “We are delighted to work with the EPA’s Design for the Environment Program and to achieve their DfE designation for our full-size deep-cleaning products. BISSELL does not use phosphates, dyes, heavy metals and optical brighteners in their full-size deep-cleaning formulas, which create greener, more earth-friendly products. We are committed to developing safe and sustainable products for the home and are putting the environment and human health at the center of product development and formulation.”
BISSELL’s new DfE designation allows the company to work closer with EPA chemists, environmental scientists and others in investigating materials that can further improve the environmental impact of its products. Companies that hold the DfE designation have demonstrated that they seek continuous improvement and integration of environmentally responsible solutions in everyday business practices.
