Braun has been involved with the ISCT for the past few years, attending the last two annual conventions and presenting the keynote speech at last year's convention. As president of the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI, www.carpet-rug.com), Braun shares many of the goals of the ISCT: Strengthening the communications between the carpet manufacturing and the carpet cleaning industry, and striving for customer satisfaction with all phases of the carpet experience.
"I'm flattered and pleased to be elected to the ISCT Board," Braun said. "The ISCT has an excellent reputation in the cleaning community, and I'm looking forward to helping in whatever way I can. Certainly, quality carpet care is a critical component of customer satisfaction with their carpet purchase. The ISCT and CRI are clearly aligned on this goal of customer satisfaction."
A graduate of St. Edward University, Austin, Texas, Braun held numerous positions during his 26 years with The Dow Chemical Company. Prior to accepting the presidency of the CRI in 2000, Braun had worked closely with the CRI staff and other members of the carpet manufacturing industry on industrywide issues. He also was a key representative during the EPA hearings on indoor air quality.
Jerry Kessie, ISCT past president, nominated Braun as an ISCT director. He said, "The primary focus of the ISCT is to provide solutions to enhance the business and personal growth of our members, to work with others to advance the professionalism of our industry, and to strengthen the interaction with affiliated industries. Electing Werner Braun to the ISCT Board of Directors goes a long way toward reaching all of these goals."
