CFI Chapter News

January 1, 2007

The CFI San Diego chapter had a successful charity event with eight companies volunteering to clean the local Ronald McDonald House. Carpet was cleaned throughout the rooms, offices and hallways; tile and grout was cleaned in the bathrooms, laundry room and two kitchens; several area rugs were cleaned along with all the upholstered furniture in the rooms, offices and conference room. The house manager was very grateful for the tremendous turnout and effort. The chapter also held its annual carpet cleaner’s swap meet, giving attendees the chance to not only pick up some good buys, but to talk and learn from other local cleaners.

The CFI Orange County/Inland Empire Chapter hosted a very successful charity event at the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda on Nov. 10, 2006, working in partnership with one of its leading suppliers and allied partner, Pro’s Choice. Through this relationship, the CFI rallied some much-needed resources to provide in one day what generally takes up to a week. In addition to providing products, Pro’s Choice also gave a $100 gift certificate to each company. It’s this type of unselfish generosity that earmarks the spirit of the program.

We are grateful to our member volunteers for giving so unselfishly of their time for such a worthy cause. Without their help, we couldn’t extend this type of support to the Ronald McDonald House program. Hats off to Eric Bollmann from Hanes & Cross, Gary Mills and his associate Alex from Arrowhead Cleaning Systems, Brian Gokey and Manuel Castreton from Pro Home Care, Edgar Prado and his associate Jesus from Intex Solutions, Inc., and Jack Freedman from Beaulieu Carpet Mills.

The Los Angeles Chapter met at Mark The Carpet Bagger in Santa Monica on Nov. 8, 2006. Joe Goodman, Cleaner to the Stars, and Lisa Wagner of K. Blatchford’s Oriental Rug Cleaning shared strategies, insights and gave honest advice to help cleaning professionals identify what they like about their business, what needs improvement and how to make it happen. Please visit www.carpet9.org for information on upcoming CFI L.A. Chapter events.

The recent meeting of the Northern California/Nevada chapter was also honored to have Lisa Wagner as its guest speaker. As one might expect, the room was full.

Wagner started the evening off sharing how the education-based marketing systems have helped her and others create a high-end service business. Among the other strategies shared were how to leverage your personal education to increase both productivity and profits. Her approachable style and passion for promoting the rug cleaning profession, lent itself to an informative and comfortable evening. Questions and answers flowed easily.

The chapter would like to thank ProLine Supply of Sacramento for hosting the event.
