CFI Chapter Plans ‘Operation Carpet Care-ing’ Project

The Central California chapter of the Carpet & Fabric Institute is looking for carpet cleaners to participate in its first annual “OPERATION CARPET CARE-ING”. Professional Carpet Cleaners from around California’s Southern San Joaquin Valley will be offering their services, at no charge, to the elderly, shut-in’s, handicapped or to those unable to afford professional carpet cleaning. In addition, the Bakersfield Fire Department will donate Smoke detectors, which the Cleaners will install at any location that does not have detectors, also at no charge.

The event will be held on Saturday August 18, 2001 beginning at 8:00 at the administrative offices of NEW ADVANCES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, located at 1115 22nd Street, Bakersfield where the Cleaners will form a Caravan through Downtown before being dispatched to their job sites.

The event is being sponsored by the Central California Chapter to demonstrate a caring about their community and the people that live here. The Chapter will work with a number of non-profit organizations to determine those in need. The non-profits will recommend those who will benefit the most from the free services. Valley legislators and city dignitaries will be on hand to give the “CARE-ING” carpet cleaners a suitable send off.
