CFI Update

July 19, 2010

In Memoriam: The CFI mourns the loss of our past director and friend Joe Goodman. Joe had a finance degree and a law degree from UCLA. He worked his way through law school by cleaning fabrics, and stayed in cleaning after graduating. Because he was able to deal with problems and difficult situations with fabrics and leathers, Joe earned a far-reaching reputation for providing fast, effective, and top-quality services.

CFI President Matt Sanders recently held an Advanced Containment Design and Construction class at Restotech/DKI in Laguna Hills. Over 26 students were in attendance to learn a new way to fabricate and install containment for mold, water damage and dust control. After the PowerPoint presentation, students participated in hands-on containment fabrication using the CFI training modules.

Special thanks to Aramsco’s Ralph McKinley for demonstrating some of the newest tools and gadgets for restoration professionals, and for providing a great Mexican food lunch for everyone. Special thanks to the staff at Restoch/DKI for being such great hosts!

Arizona Director Norma McCormick says that “Taking a Swing at Social Media” was a huge success in April. Speakers shared on different aspects of Internet marketing. The Arizona Chapter also completed the cleaning at four locations of Maggie’s Place. USA Carpet Care, Lopez & Associates, Clean N Fresh Cleaning and J&M Restoration all came out to donate time and services. Thanks for all those that helped make this a tremendous event.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by to visit our CFI booth at the Connections Conference and Exhibition in Clearwater, Fla. This was a great time to reconnect with friends and colleagues. And birthday wishes to Ruth and Nick!
