Company confirms energy savings from ventilation system maintenance

BBJ Environmental Solutions, a manufacturer of products to clean and maintain ventilation systems, recently stated that clean ventilation systems "can save a building thousands of dollars annually in energy costs."

BBJ technicians measured airflow and heat transfer efficiency in 48 buildings before and after a representative air handler was cleaned. The results showed that clean and well-maintained ventilation systems consume, on average, 25 percent less energy than before the systems were cleaned, according to BBJ.

Using data from the survey, a 250,000-square-foot building could realize annual energy savings of up to $70,000, the company said.
