Dri-Eaz Education now offers WRT-ASD certification in five days

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification has approved the proposal to combine the Water Restoration Technician (WRT) course and Applied Structural Drying (ASD) courses into a single five-day course.

February 11, 2009, BURLINGTON, Wash. – The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), an independent certification body for the restoration industry, has approved the proposal to combine the Water Restoration Technician (WRT) course and Applied Structural Drying (ASD) courses into a single five-day course.

Normally, the WRT is a three day class, including a half-day examination, and the ASD course requires four days to complete. Dri-Eaz developed the five day course in order to provide the broadest range of training options possible.

“Considering the downtime and travel costs, getting fully certified in both WRT and ASD was an expensive process,” says Brendan Kimmel, education associate at the Restoration Sciences Academy campus at Dri-Eaz Products in Burlington, Washington. “It could mean two weeks of lost work for most participants, plus the expense of two separate trips. Most of our students find it hard to get away from their businesses that long.”

Now participants can complete both certifications and get back home in one week – and save the cost of an extra trip.

The combined course will help get new technicians up to speed quickly and with less downtime. “Giving a new employee the skills they need to succeed is one of the most important investments a business owner can make,” said Kimmel. “Coming back to work with both certifications will boost the new tech’s confidence and help him or her project a new professionalism in the field.”
