DuPont to cut more jobs

June 4, 2001
WILMINGTON, Del.—DuPont Co. announced last week that it will cut more jobs than initially expected, according to the Associated Press. The exact number of jobs will be announced at the end of July when the company releases its second-quarter earnings.

In early April, the company announced that it would cut its workforce by 4,000 employees and would cut an additional 1,300 contractor positions. According to the company, DuPont will save nearly $400 million, which would be realized in 2002.

About 700 of the terminated positions were in DuPont’s company headquarters in Wilmington.
