IICRC announces launch of apprentice program

May 18, 2006

At its recent Certification Council meeting in Vancouver, Wash., the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification announced the launch of the Apprentice/Basic Skills Training Program.

Created to supplement current IICRC certification programs, the new program is designed to educate new or existing employees who have had no formal training in the cleaning industry. All programs will be available in either a classroom lecture format, or through distance learning in several different e-formats, including CD-ROM, DVD, videotape and online programming.

"We will approve an IICRC presenter; we will send them an outline and we will ask for their written materials. All materials that apprentices will see will have gone through the [appropriate] committees," Apprentice/Basic Skills Division Chair Dane Gregory said. "We've created an absolute paperless system for this program. Everything will be done online, everything will be done digitally. There will be no keying in of information; it's all going to be uploaded by presenters and by candidates."
