IICRC Forms S600 Consensus Body Standard Committee
October 20, 2009
VANCOUVER,
Wash. – Oct. 20, 2009 – The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration
Certification (IICRC)
announces the formation of the Consensus Body Standard Committee for the S600 Carpet Installation Standard and
Reference Guide. The committee, co-chaired by James Mullins of Shaw
Industries and Barry Costa of Aspire Educational Institute, is responsible for
drafting the carpet installation standard.
“This committee is made up of people
directly and materially affected by the standard,” said vice-chair Barry Costa.
“After reviewing more than 100 written applications for membership
consideration for the consensus body, we are confident that we have a strong
committee representing all areas of the carpet chain.”
The 22-member consensus body will meet
approximately four times per year, and most of the work will be done online and
via conference calls. The first in-person meeting took place Oct. 12 – 13 in
Atlanta.
The new standard for carpet
installation is being sponsored by the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA)
and the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI). Timeline for its completion is 36
months.
The IICRC is still looking for industry
volunteers for working chapter committees. All of those who submitted a
written application for the consensus body but are not part of the consensus
body are invited to be part of a working chapter committee. Applications should
be submitted to committee chair James Mullins (james.mullins@shawinc.com)
or vice- chair Barry Costa (barry@aspire-centre.com),
or by contacting IICRC headquarters at 360-693-5675.
