Cleaning experts from all over the world are collaborating to revise Carpet Cleaning Standard S-001, the standard for professional, on-location cleaning of carpets and rugs. The new version will incorporate recent research and timely issues into the document.
Since September 2000, 35 people have been working to incorporate new information on vacuuming, cleaning and indoor air quality into the standard, as well as updated cleaning techniques. Those involved in the revision expect it to be ready for distribution by the end of this year.
“The inclusion of commercial and residential guidelines in Carpet Cleaning Standard S-001 sets a precedent for cleaning. It standardizes the quality of cleaning for the entire industry,” said Larry Cooper, IICRC task force chairman for the carpet cleaning standard.
