Industry icon Ed York dies

Well-known industry figure Ed York died March 13. York only recently stepped out of sales after 38 years of selling carpet cleaning equipment, closing down York Enterprises and Ed York Sales.

York had slowly been giving up activities demanding energy and action, but he still had time for brief telephone consulting with past clients and entrepreneurs about the cleaning industry.

In 2005, York, founder of the SCT, the International Certification Registry, the IICUC, the Fiber Cleaning Schools of America and a number of other industry institutions, accepted an invitation by the Low Moisture Carpet Cleaner's Association to become technical advisor to the president of the LMCCA.
