International rental leader aids cleaning professionals and facility managers

November 15, 2001
DENVER, Col. -- HSS, one of the world's largest equipment rental companies, has purchased the RentX store chain from Saint-Gobain SA of France.

RentX has 74 locations in 13 states, while British-based HSS has more than 600 locations in seven countries.

The RentX acquisition marks a major expansion of HSS's U.S. presence, which was previously concentrated in South Florida, and launches the combined HSS RentX brand nationwide.

The company carries a broad range of quality rental tools and equipment for commercial and industrial operations, including carpet and floor cleaning, maintenance, repair and remodeling needs.

"We are a company that is 100 percent focused on rental services, and have been for 40 years," said Carlo Cavecchi, HSS CEO. "Customers benefit from that, without question. We also offer what we believe is the most valuable Satisfaction Guarantee in the industry."

Cavecchi said he anticipates an investment of approximately $25 million in new rental inventory, facilities and services over the coming months.

HSS, one of the world's best known names in tool and equipment rental, has been the recipient of numerous international awards for its industry leadership in areas including training, safety and product innovation.
