ISCT engages in some W.E.T. work

The International Society of Cleaning Technicians conducted a study earlier this year involving water-extraction efficiency testing, or W.E.T. The research effort was sponsored by the ISCT in coordination with Shaw Industries laboratory and staff.

"The mission for the study was not to ‘declare a winner,'" said Ruth Travis, ISCT president and W.E.T. study chair. "It was to collect data and allow the numbers to speak for themselves."

The study examined the ability of the various water-extraction tools to remove water from both carpet and cushion. The cleaning and restoration industry has for years been bombarded with conflicting claims regarding this issue, according to the ISCT.
