Royal Appliance Announces Results for Second Quarter of 2001

CLEVELAND--Royal Appliance Mfg. Co., maker of Dirt Devil floor care products, recently announced net sales of more than $80 million for the second quarter that ended June 30, down 2.1% for the comparable period in 2000. Net sales for the first half of this year were $185 million.

Net income for the six month period was $1.5 million, compared to a net loss of $425,000 in the comparable period for 2000. The company's net loss of $708,000 for the quarter was lower than the net loss of $1.5 million for the comparable period in 2000.

Royal Appliance Mfg. Co. develops, assembles and markets vacuum cleaners and other cleaning appliances for home and commercial use under the Dirt Devil and Royal brand names.
